ABSTRACT. – Plants of the Cerrado (Savannah-type) biome are abundant and rich in compounds. The aim was to assess mortality, viability and duration from pupae to pre-emergence and from pre-emergence to adult; weight of male and female adults; sex ratio; deformations, and number and weight of second generation larvae of Tenebrio molitor L., 1758 (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) after treatment with extracts of Acisanthera sp. (Melastomataceae), Adenocalymma nodosum (Silva Manso) L.G. Lohmann (Bignoniaceae), Bidens sulphurea (Cav.) Sch. Bip., Dimorphandra mollis Benth (Fabaceae), Lepidoploa aurea Mart. ex DC. (Asteraceae), and Salvertia convallariaeodora A. St.-Hill. (Vochysiaceae). Extracts of B. sulphurea flowers or A. nodosum leaves were highly toxic to T. molitor, with 100 % mortality of pupae and those of Acisanthera sp. leaves, astilbin from D. mollis flowers or L. aurea leaves were moderately or slightly toxic, although they affected the growth, morphology and reproduction of this insect. Cerrado plants extracts, except A. nodosum flowers or S. convallariaeodora leaves, have to be used with caution in pest management programs due to their toxicity to the non-target T. molitor.
