ABSTRACT. – Five live specimens of Nautilus pompilius Linnaeus, 1758 were collected from fish traps from the East Andaman Sea, East Indian Ocean. Their occurrence is a new record for the region and indicates the existence of a living population. The hypothesis of an ancestral dispersion route is proposed to be from the Philippines, the south of Bali and Sumatra along the Sunda-Java Trench into the East Andaman Sea where water conditions are favorable for this species.
